Jaiswal!

Kavita and Amba (listening hard!)

Sunday evening, we had an OS get together of sorts at Amba's place. It was a great opportunity to meet old schoolmates and catch up on all the news. for me personally, being almost completely quite cut off from the scene after leaving school, it was quite an experience.

Achtung!! Der Biermeister ist Hier!!!

The Pride and delight of my glass service are these 4 beer mugs- mugs so huge that they can hold an entire 750 ml bottle each. That means fewer trips to the refrigerator for refills!

Balancing Food

Ethnic Indian food and Pizza Hut just one above the other. India is learning to balance a mix of India and Western Culture.

The Brake Inspectors of Bangalore

Wheels, This one's for you.

These are pictures of Bangalore's new Brake Inspectors on secondment from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Horticulture. They usually lounge languidly in the centre of Airport road and test the brakes of unsuspecting motorists. This is quite OK on a lazy Saturday afternoon like this, but at 9 AM on a Monday morning, it can be extremely upsetting.

The paradox that this country is, never ceases to amaze me. Just over that yellow wall is a high tech laboratory that designs and mantains Jet engines!

ps: "Wheels" is my nickname for a particular "Executive Protection Specialist" in the entourage of a prominent North American business personality. We've had a lot of adventures involving cars, Indian Police, Drag Racers and the varied Fauna of this beautiful country. One day, while testing the mettle of a magnificent German automobile, we were accosted by the Brake Testers close to the location in the photograph. In my neglect of seatbelt sense, I left a gruesome crack in the windscreen (thanks to a $10 metal watch). Wheels just wanted to make sure others are warned.

An arm and a leg

This is a pedestrian signal near Ulsoor Police Station in Bangalore. Would you trust it? Is it a warning? what is it?

Mecca Cola

Mecca Cola: this is not a doctored picture. I was shopping in the Shivajinagar Area with some friends and was looking for something to drink. I got this drink from a shop for Rs. 10. The shopkeeper pitched it as a soft drink made by moslems. Shivajinagar has a predominantly moslem population even though it is home to a prominent Catholic church. I was wondering what the Islam HQ would have to say about the name of their holiest city being used as a trade symbol.

Distrabence

This picture is of a sign board put up on MG Road in Bangalore. MG Road is the heart of the city's Pub district apart from being a popular weekend hangout.
